It's all in the details

So, that solo show at Viewpoint? It going to be this August! August 8 thru September 1, 2012 in the Step Up Gallery to be exact. I am spending this semester doing an Independant Study course to get all the printing, toning, and matting done for the show. I also will be shooting some new images for the show. Need to blow the dust of the Hassey and get to work!

In the meantime, I'm working on uploading the rest of my recent images to this site's Darkness at Noon and NEW WORK galleries so be sure to check those out. I'll probably do a bit of house cleaning around the other galleries while I'm at it. I also have a "new" Polaroid camera and several packs of Impossible Project film to shoot. Oh and we got a dog!

You can find also find me on Instagram - enjoy!

It's all about your Viewpoint

So. That bigs news I've been sitting on the past 2 months? It turns out the phone call from Ellen at Viewpoint wasn't just a dream - the rumors are true and the cat is out of the bag. I am having a solo show at Viewpoint's Step Up Gallery next year!!

//takes several deep breaths

Solo.

Show.

Either in August or October of 2012. That gives me half a year to get everything done. No sweat. ha! And if you just don't want to have to wait that long, I just found out yesterday that I had one of my submissions accepted in Viewpoint's annual juried show Twelve: Parallels. So you'll be able to see two of my new images in December!

Oh! And as if that isn't enough, I was the 'New Member' interviewee in the latest Viewpoint newsletter. Why yes, I am a bit overwhelmed right now. Overwhelmed, extremely happy, and damn proud.

Excited, busy, out of printer ink

I am sitting on some potentially HUGE news. I'm just waiting on some sort of formal notice before I say anything. But it's big, and I'm already loosing sleep over it.

In the meantime, the fall semester has started and I've taken 3 classes so I'm kinda busy. Add to the normal busy the fact that my son is playing club volleyball and you get one highly organized wife/mother/student/artist! I hope. I have redundant calendars all over the house!

So today I'm just working through my to-do and while waiting for a couple contact sheets to print, I've added a CV to this site. Oh wait, I'm out of ink. Adding a trip to Staples to my list and I am outta here.

And now I make books

I recently finished a series of photographs that became the book "The Price of Enlightenment". The images were shot with Ilford Delta 100 film with a Hasselblad 500c. The small book "She Dreamed of Fame and Fortune" is composed of digital images from an off-shoot of one of the photo sessions for the main book. Both books are hand-made; The Price of Enlightment is 11x14" and bound by the Japanese Stab Binding technique, while She Dreamed is an accordian style book and 4x6".

To best showcase these new images, I decided to finally update my website. Decluttered and with proper galleries, I couldn't be happier with the new layout.

Coming soon to the Viewpoint Gallery...

Last week I dropped of the 2 prints that were selected for Viewpoint's December juried show - Twelve: The Face of It. I can not tell you how excited I am to finally be showing my work at the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. This it the only gallery in Sacramento that focuses on photography exclusively. And to have 2 of the 6 images I submitted accepted is amazing! So, if you are in the area, come out next month and check out the exhibit. Show opens on Dec. 08th and the Second Saturday reception is Dec. 11th. Hope to see you there!
