It's August!

How is that possible??

The State Fair is over. I pick up my pieces this Friday. And then on Sunday, the Member's Show at Viewpoint gets taken down and we hang my solo show!

Let's all take a moment here to bend forward and put our head between our knees - and/or - breath into a paper bag. Reader's choice.

I should be out plastering the town with those fancy postcards I had made. Hell, I should be working on finishing up that artist statement! But I'm in oral surgery recovery mode, so that will all have to wait. I have 9 days until the Artist Receiption. Once all these drugs leave my system, I predict that I'm gonna need a bigger paper bag.

So, you have a couple more days to get to Viewpoint and check out the Member's Show. This is my "Three Graces"

And a week from Friday I'll see you at the Artist Reception!

::breath in breath out repeat::

Let the games begin!

or something like that...

It is July 10 and this week is busy! And the beginning of a very busy month. Man, I still need to write my Artist Statement for my solo show!

Last night I dropped off a print at Vox for this show:

Join me and 53 other artist/photographers in a "12 Hours in Sacramento" art experiment. These artists have come together to showcase individual images taken over a span of 12 hours in the greater Sacramento area. For my part, come and see what 6pm in the sticks looks like.

The California State Fair opens on Thursday July 12th! Make sure you check out the Fine Art Exhibit in Expo Center Building 7. Look for my 2 award winning photographs!

And because 3 is the magic number, The Viewpoint Member's Exhibit opens this week with the Artist Reception on Friday night (Friday the 13th - you know it's gonna be good!) and then the Second Saturday reception on the 14th. I am showing a new photograph "The Three Graces". It is one of the preliminary images of a new series I am working on.

So I hope our paths cross as some point during this busy art-filled weekend!

Next week I buckle down and get that statement written and begin the final promo push for next month's show!

Matted and framed

All dressed up and nowhere to go.

Not true! Tomorrow I am taking these two photographs to Cal Expo for the California State Fair's Fine Art Exhibit!

From the Fair's website:

"This visual arts exhibition is recognized as one of the Golden State’s largest and most prestigious juried art shows."

Sweet! Out of 1326 total entries, they accepted 180 artworks and only 40 photographs.

I guess I'll have to brave the heat and finally attend the fair. Which means I will also get a chance to try one of those deep-fried twinkies I've been hearing about.

Fair dates July 12th - 29th. Plan accordingly!
